What is a vampire facial with PRP?
In a vampire facial (also known as autologous blood therapy or autologous plasma therapy), blood is drawn from the patient and plasma is extracted from it through a special process. The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains at least eight growth factors in high concentration, and acts on the skin like a rejuvenation treatment. The process encourages increased production of connective tissue fibres and thickening of the skin. In addition, the body's natural production of hyaluronic acid is increased, which improves the skin continuously and gently blurs wrinkles.
The concentrated blood plasma is then injected into the problem areas, similar to hyaluronic acid injections. Wrinkles are smoothed, the skin becomes more supple and takes on a fresh, firm look. In some cases the blood plasma can be combined with hyaluronic acid, which improves the effectiveness of wrinkle blurring.
To achieve a lasting result it is recommended to have 2–3 treatments about 6 weeks apart. Depending on the condition of the skin, an additional maintenance treatment can be performed every 18 months.
