In brief

  • Facial Botox targets the areas where expression lines form: frown lines, forehead, the corners of the eyes, bunny lines and chin.
  • Botulinum toxin blocks the transmission of signals from nerve to muscle, so the muscle relaxes and the skin above it smooths out while natural expressions are preserved.
  • The treatment takes 10-20 minutes, initial results appear after 3-4 days and the full result after about 14 days.
  • Results usually last 4-6 months, and sport, sauna and sun should be avoided for 24 hours.
  • For deep wrinkles or volume loss, hyaluronic acid can be combined, and for tired skin, PRP can be added.

Over the years, our characteristic facial expressions – such as smiling, raising an eyebrow or frowning – begin to leave their mark: expression lines on the forehead, at the corners of the eyes and between the eyebrows. Many of us are looking for a way to keep a fresh, natural look without giving up the facial expressions that tell others who we are.

Botox injections for the face are a precise, non-invasive treatment that targets the areas where expression lines form, smoothing the skin without blurring your personality.

So which areas of the face can be treated, and how exactly does botulinum toxin work?

The main areas for facial Botox treatment

Frown lines (glabella)

A vertical line sometimes forms between the eyebrows as a result of concentrating or knitting the brows, creating a frowning look. A precise injection of Botox relaxes the responsible muscle, and the skin above it smooths out visibly yet naturally.

Treating forehead lines

Horizontal lines on the forehead are caused by raising the eyebrows. People who often work in front of a screen or frequently raise their eyebrows in surprise notice that these wrinkles deepen over the years. A targeted treatment reduces the activity of the forehead muscle (frontalis), smoothing the lines without freezing your facial expression.

Laughter lines (corners of the eyes)

Laughter lines around the eyes add charm, but some people are bothered by them. Botulinum toxin relaxes small muscle fibres at the outer corner of the eye and opens up the gaze while preserving a lively smile.

Bunny lines

If you notice fine lines on the bridge of your nose when you laugh or scrunch your nose, they can be treated with micro-injections. This keeps a delicate look without prominent horizontal lines.

Chin wrinkles and a “dimpled” chin

When the chin muscle is overactive, dimpling or horizontal lines can form on the chin. A small dose of botulinum toxin smooths the skin and gives the chin a smooth appearance.

How does Botox affect the body?

Botulinum toxin selectively blocks the transmission of signals between nerve and muscle. As a result, the muscle relaxes, and the skin above it relaxes and smooths out. The injection is performed with maximum precision so that only the parts of the muscle responsible for the wrinkle are relaxed, while your natural facial expressions are preserved. The result is a fresh, natural and vibrant look.

Benefits of facial Botox injections

Facial Botox injections offer a unique combination of effectiveness, safety and natural results. It is a non-invasive, quick treatment with no significant recovery time, allowing precise treatment of expression lines without affecting the structure of the face or natural expressions. The treatment improves the appearance of the skin, gives a fresh, youthful look within minutes, and is also suitable as a preventive treatment against the formation of new wrinkles. When performed by a qualified doctor, Botox blends harmoniously into the face and emphasises your natural beauty – without “erasing” your personality.

Combining with hyaluronic acid or PRP – worth it or not?

Hyaluronic acid

When expression lines are very deep or there is volume loss in the skin (for example, in the nasolabial folds or the lips), a combination of Botox and hyaluronic acid may be the optimal solution. Botox relaxes the muscle, and hyaluronic acid restores volume and hydrates the skin.

PRP plasma treatment

For tired, dehydrated skin, a complementary treatment PRP encourages skin renewal from within. Growth factors from the patient’s own blood boost collagen production, improve skin structure and enhance the effect of the Botox treatment.

A specialist doctor will decide together with you whether a single or combined treatment is right for you. At our clinic we offer tailored treatment packages based on your skin condition and needs.

Treatment duration, onset and longevity

  • Treatment duration: 10–20 minutes, depending on the number of areas.
  • Onset of effect: initial results appear after 3–4 days, the full result after about 14 days.
  • Longevity: usually between 4–6 months. With regular top-up treatments, the effect may last longer, as the muscle stops “reprogramming” the wrinkle.
  • Recovery time: mild redness or swelling may appear but will subside within a few hours. Avoid sport, sauna or sun exposure for 24 hours.

Whether you want to smooth forehead lines or soften a frown line, facial Botox injections deliver fast, visible results without changing the character of your face. The key is a combination of medical experience, a high-quality product and a holistic approach to your skin.

Frequently asked questions

Before each treatment, we will discuss together the areas you would like to treat. Using an extremely fine needle, the substance is injected into the area you have chosen. The pain during the injection is minimal (patients sometimes report a slight stinging sensation), but if you wish, we will be happy to offer local anaesthesia. The effect begins to be felt after 2-3 days, and the full effect is seen after about a week. The wrinkle-smoothing results last between 4-6 months, and in the treatment of hyperhidrosis the effect lasts 12 months on average. Very rarely, the effect may be absent altogether.

Expression lines are the result of genetic factors and vary according to overactivity of the muscles in the facial area. When botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles, it blocks the transmission of nerve impulses, so the injected muscle cannot tense and contract as usual. The relaxation of the injected muscles smooths the wrinkles without changing the natural facial expression. In addition, when Botox is injected in a targeted way, it can reduce the activity of the sweat glands and help reduce migraine pain.

Botox (botulinum toxin or BTA) is a natural protein secreted by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and isolated through a complex purification process. Botulinum toxin is used in aesthetic medicine to smooth wrinkles in the face, neck and décolletage, and also to treat conditions of overactive sweat glands. In addition, Botox has been found to be particularly effective in treating migraine attacks.

In rare cases, skin reactions or infection, slight swelling or small bruises may appear. For this reason, avoid taking blood-thinning medication for at least a week before the treatment. Very rarely, effects such as temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow, excessive tearing, headaches, dry mouth, fatigue, a tingling sensation or a general feeling of illness may occur. All side effects are temporary, according to current knowledge. Botulinum toxin treatment is not permitted in cases of neurological or muscular diseases, or during pregnancy.

Botox is a liquid protein that relaxes, in a targeted way, the muscles that cause wrinkles to form. As a result, the wrinkles are reduced. The substance is injected directly into the muscle that creates the wrinkles. The effect lasts between 4 and 6 months. Hyaluronic acid is a natural, gel-like substance that is injected into or beneath the skin. Thanks to its ability to bind water, the substance adds volume to the tissue, and thereby helps reduce wrinkles or smooth the skin. Depending on the product used, hyaluronic acid is cleared from the body within 9 to 24 months.

By taking certain medications (such as vitamin C and various antibiotics), the effect may be reduced or cancelled altogether. After the injection, it is recommended to avoid heavy physical exertion and touching the injected areas for 12 hours. For a week, it is advisable to avoid activities that may lead to increased blood flow (such as sauna, sun, solarium, sport). So that the substance spreads well within the muscle, it is recommended to flex the treated muscles frequently for several hours after the treatment.
